(VL)La WWW Virtual Library (WWW signifiant: World Wide Web) est le plus ancien annuaire du web. Ce catalogue par sujets est débuté par Tim Berners-Lee, inventeur du web en 1989, comme outil d’analyse de son développement. L’annuaire est ensuite poursuivi par Arthur Secret entre 1993 et 1997, avant que chaque section ne soit prise en main par des spécialistes d’un sujet donné. Réputée pour sa qualité, la WWW Virtual Library est désormais un annuaire coopératif constitué de très nombreux répertoires situés sur des centaines de serveurs de par le monde. Les pages centrales sont gérées par le VL Council. En février 2006, Arthur Secret est élu président de l’association gérant la Virtual Library. -
